My name is Kevin Michaels, principle inspector/assessor and owner of Hudson Valley Property Inspections. My career as a home inspector and mold assessor is the result of over 40 years of inspection, design and installation experience. This began in a family machine shop business in Ulster county as a Quality Control Inspector.
After the sale of the family business 20 years later, I owned and operated an electronics business for 15 years. We specialized in custom home theater, commercial audio / video systems and satellite installations. The many hours of training and hands-on experience with the design and installation of electronic systems in new construction as well as renovating existing structures was invaluable. As the business advanced into new technologies, I soon became NYSERDA certified in the design and installation of solar power and renewable energy.
During the economic downturn of the 2008 housing crash, I figured it was the perfect time to move into Real Estate. I was hired by the Town of Saugerties as the HUD Inspector for the 100+ properties in Town of Saugerties HUD program while I obtained my Real Estate Licensing. This is where I realized the importance of a home inspection, especially the relationship that an inspector has with you, the client. In 2009, I passed the NYS home and building inspection courses and securing my professional certification and NYS Licensing. I began developing Hudson Valley Property Inspections, LLC , into a well-known and respected property inspection company throughout the Hudson Valley in New York and the surrounding communities. In 2016, I acquired my NYS Mold Assessor License in accordance with New York’s Dept. of Labor new Mold regulations.
After a full day of inspections and assessments, I enjoy playing golf, bowling, and spending time with my wife Amy and the two pups, Jaxon and Harvi.
